Samaritans relies upon the caring support of a generous community to provide a tremendous amount of direct service to people suffering in our communities each year. Last year, we answered more than 150,000 calls on our helplines, made more than 1,000 outbound befriending calls to lonely and isolated seniours, trained more than 15,000 teens, adults and seniors about suicide prevention, and provided caring, compassionate support to more than 1,000 bereaved individuals in our Grief Support Services program.

Because Samaritans offers most of our services through the use of highly trained volunteers, our operating budget is only just over $1,200,000 annually, which we have to raise each year. More than 50% of our funding comes from gifts from individuals.
